Understanding yourself is an important part of creating meaningful change.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes we're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or difficulties in our relationships. Other times, we simply recognize that something in our lives isn't working, even if we can't quite explain what it is.
Whatever brings you to therapy, I believe your experiences deserve to be understood within the context of your life, not simply as a collection of symptoms.
My approach begins with curiosity about who you are, what you've experienced, and how you've learned to navigate the world. Sometimes you know exactly what brings you to therapy. Your relationship is struggling. You're questioning whether to stay or leave. You're having difficulty trusting someone—or trusting yourself. You may find yourself repeating patterns you thought you had outgrown, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling disconnected from the life you've built.
Other times, it's harder to name. You may simply know that something isn't working anymore.
Therapy offers a space to slow things down and understand what's happening beneath the surface. Together, we'll explore the patterns, relationships, experiences, and beliefs that may be shaping how you feel and the choices you make today.
While everyone's experience is unique, some of the concerns we may explore together include:
You don't need to identify with a particular diagnosis or know exactly what you want to work on before beginning therapy.
I don't believe meaningful therapy follows the same path for everyone.
Some sessions may involve conversation and reflection as we begin recognizing patterns in your experiences. At other times, we may explore emotions that have been difficult to access, notice how your body responds to certain situations, or process memories that continue to affect you.
My approach is integrative and trauma-informed. I draw from EMDR and other therapeutic approaches based on your needs, your goals, and your readiness.
I believe that insight is important, but understanding something intellectually doesn't always mean we've fully processed it emotionally.
Together, we work toward developing a deeper connection with your internal world, with compassion and respect for your individual pace.
Learning to manage difficult emotions can be helpful. But sometimes the deeper work involves understanding what those emotions are telling us.
Many of us have learned to minimize our needs, question our feelings, or look to others for reassurance about our worth.
Over time, these patterns can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves.
Therapy can offer an opportunity to recognize those patterns, understand how they developed, and begin relating to ourselves differently.
My hope is that our work helps you develop greater self-awareness, emotional connection, and trust in your own ability to navigate life's challenges.
The goal isn't to become someone else. It's to develop a more meaningful relationship with who you already are.
Beginning therapy doesn't require having everything figured out.
Whether you're navigating a difficult experience, recognizing patterns you'd like to change, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, we can begin wherever you are.
I offer individual psychotherapy in English and Spanish, with an approach tailored to your unique experiences and goals.
I welcome the opportunity to explore whether working together would be a good fit.
